Dr. O'Grady's new operating room is equipped with general anesthesia built to the same or better standards as hospital operating rooms. His clinic is one of few in Toronto that feature the new Drager Primus anesthesia machine from Germany. The machine provides ultra-low flow anesthesia allowing patients to receive the optimal dose of anesthesia while minimizing the amount of side effects. This translates into faster recovery times, less post-operative nausea and reduced cost for the patient.
Other features of the new clinic are redundant back-up power supply in case of power outages, isolated power supplies on all operating and recovery room electrical outlets, a dedicated medical gas supply with back-up oxygen supply, top of the line, brand new, German made surgical instruments made from German steel, and hospital-grade sterilization containers. These investments were made with patient safety in mind, an area that surgeons can't sacrifice or cut corners on. Should a complication arise, Dr. O'Grady wants to be fully prepared for it and deal with it quickly and decisively.
Having his own operating room means that Dr. O'Grady can offer better service, faster recovery time and convenience to his clients. The new clinic allows Dr. O'Grady to tailor surgical times to better suit patient schedules and eliminate a lot of the red tape that goes with booking surgery at a hospital. As well, Dr. O'Grady's patients receive one-on-one nursing care, which can't be matched in a hospital setting.
